Abby Lee Miller is giving fans a first look at her new Dance Moms spinoff, Abby Lee Dance With Me!
On Thursday, the controversial former reality TV star took to her Instagram to drop a brand new teaser trailer for the show, which the 58-year-old has been marketing to her fanbase as season 9 of the hit Lifetime series which made names for dancers like Maddie Ziegler and JoJo Siwa.
"It was a cultural phenomenon that captured the attention of millions of viewers around the world," Miller says in a voiceover at the start of the video. The audio of the dance instructor's voice plays over clips from the Dance Moms series, which ended its run on Lifetime in September 2019.
While the teaser starts with clips of the original stars including Mackenzie Ziegler and a notably blurred-out Christi Lukasiak, it quickly transitions to scenes from the newly shot series, complete with new dancers and, of course, new moms.
"All right, let's do this," Miller says to the new crop of recruits. "Now, 12 years later, after it all began, I'm back and better than ever."
According to Miller, the show will follow her traversing the United States to find the next generation of unbreakable dancers who she hopes to train into champions. In order to do that, she must locate just a handful of competitors who she thinks have the talent and the grit to make it through her rigorous training -- and constant critiques -- in order to win.
"I can’t wait to share this incredible talent with the World! A great big hug goes out to all the wonderfully talented kids who were selected to participate in this show! I loved working with each and every one of you," the dance instructor wrote in the caption of her post, adding the hashtags "Abby Lee Dance With Me" and "Season 9."
Miller previously dropped a preview of the show on her YouTube channel in December, showing just 40 seconds of what is to come from the highly anticipated follow-up to her beloved Lifetime series. Fans immediately went wild at the announcement that she would soon be heading back to the small screen to battle it out with dancers and their moms alike. Miller, however, has yet to reveal the release date or where the show will stream.
In 2023, ET spoke with Miller about her reality TV return and ambiguously described the then-unnamed show as a new iteration of Dance Moms that "has nothing to do with that network."
"It's not like I'm going back. This is all new," she shared. "It's classic 'Abby Lee Miller' but there are little ones and their moms, and the talent is nuts."
The new show comes as Lifetime is preparing to air more Dance Moms coverage of their own in the form of a special reunion featuring the majority of the show's original dancers and their moms. Dance Moms: The Reunion will air on May 1 and include appearances from Siwa, Kendall Vertes, Brooke and Paige Hyland, Chloe Lukasiak and Kalani Hilliker as well as their respective mothers.
Among those who chose not to attend were Nia Sioux and both Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler, which the other girls bluntly addressed in a clip shared by ET last week. In the video, the girls and their moms criticized the trio for opting to skip the reunion and speculating on why they didn't feel the need to show up for the event.
"I think everyone knows who's not here," Kendall said while sitting next to her former cast members. "Maybe they just don't think they needed this."
"They chose not to be here and at the end of the day, they've done several interviews that [they] say they don't even want this a part of their life," said Kira Girard, Kalani's mom.
JoJo -- who conceivably has the best relationship with Miller nearly five years after the show ended -- said she was upset that Nia, Mackenzie and Maddie chose not to attend, pointing to Kelly Hyland and her daughters as a prime example of why they should still have shown up. Kelly, Brooke and Paige memorably left the series in season 4 after the mom got into a physical altercation with Miller.
"It's kind of sad to see 'cause I look at, especially your kids being here, just going off of how you exited the show and for you to be able to come here and be like, 'Look, I still care about this,' it's really cool to see and it's like you still care about your past," JoJo said.
She added, "Them not being here is kind of like, 'Let me erase my past, pretend it never happened and shove it down the drain' when it's like, that's why you are who you are."
Dance Moms: The Reunion airs on Lifetime on May 1.
