Kristen Bell took the reins as the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, filling in for Kimmel while he stepped away on paternity leave.

Earlier this week, the 49-year-old late-night host revealed that his wife, Molly McNearney, gave birth to their son, who was diagnosed with a heart disease and had to have open heart surgery. The experience was an emotional one, leaving Kimmel to break down in tears while giving his monologue.

While the little one is safely recovering at home, Kimmel announced that he would be spending the rest of the week with his family, while close friends like Bell, filled in for him.

ET caught up with the Frozen actress during Saturday's Baby2Baby & Tiny Prints Mother’s Day Party in Los Angeles, where she talked about her hosting experience and how Kimmel and his family are doing.

"[They're] good. Everybody’s home, everybody’s nursing, everybody’s gaining weight," she said.

Kimmel also sent his thanks in the form of "a very nice note yesterday."

"Right after the show he said thank you so much again," Bell shared. "First, early reviews are in with an attachment from his dad which was a very long text saying how much his dad loved the show. So really if Jimmy’s dad liked the show I feel like I don't even need to know if anyone else enjoyed it. I'm cool with just knowing Jimmy’s dad enjoyed it."

During Bell's Live! episode, she interviewed Charlie Hunnam and Adam Scott, who got surprised by Star Wars actor Mark Hamill. When asked if she would consider getting into the late-night game, Bell replied, "I’m not sure. Because Jimmy and Molly are very good friends of ours I know how much work it is."

"I’m aware it’s not a two hour a day job," she added. "Jimmy works really, really hard so I don't know. I like acting a lot. I like being different people but maybe sometime in the future. I did have a lot of fun!"
