"What I have realized is that my true life dream above all things was to spread peace and love."

Lady Gaga has a debt of gratitude for her Little Monsters.

On Wednesday, the 31-year-old pop star revealed that since wrapping filming on A Star Is Born, she has been taking time to mourn the death of Haus of Gaga's managing director, Sonja Durham, who died in May after battling cancer.

"Just wanted to say a loving thank you to monsters and fans of @sonjad7777 all over the world," Gaga wrote in a lengthy caption that accompanied a nearly makeup-free selfie of the singer. "I want to say of all the things you have been there for me and my family and friends for, this one really left me speechless while also taking me by surprise."

Further praising her fans, Gaga shared what she learned about herself during this emotional time. "What I have realized is that my true life dream above all things was to spread peace and love as far as possible through music," she continued. "Thank you for keeping that community in tact, not just for me, for yourself, or for Sonja, but thank you for the example of kindness you show to the world."

Gaga concluded her post with a proclamation. "It is not how many followers you have, how skinny or beautiful by other peoples standards that matters. Truly it's the best parts of you on the inside that you choose generously to share with your sister or brother that makes you beautiful," she noted. "That's what counts. That is your legacy. That is how you leave your mark. Transferring your positive energy to those around you, and watching it multiply."

In honor of her late friend, Gaga wrote the song "Grigio Girls," and also dedicated her hit, "Edge of Glory," during her performance at Coachella in February.

It was also recently announced that she would be embarking on the Bud Light Dive Bar tour starting in Las Vegas on July 13.
